Monday Miscellany: Bullet Journals, Selfies, and Weddings

Welcome to my first Monday Miscellany post! Hopefully this will become a weekly series where I share little tidbits of my daily life and some notable things that happened during the previous week. (The keyword is "hopefully.") Right now, this probably seems kind of useless because my life is pretty static at the moment, but huge changes are coming my way in the next few weeks and I think this might be a nice way to remember the little things. And maybe, just maybe, it'll help me be a more prolific blogger. We'll see...

i. Bullet Journaling

I started a bullet journal last week because my life is a total mess and I have way too much to remember. So far, it's doing the trick. I think that at this point, my favorite feature is the "future log" because when I remember things in advance, I can write them down for future reference. My memory is awful when it comes to remembering important things at the correct time, so this is a good tool for me to use that will create the illusion of organization. Also, it's actually extremely quick and easy to do once you get the hang of it, which is perfect for busy people such as myself. You can find more information on bullet journaling here.

ii. Selfies

I think everyone struggles with self-esteem at some point. Sometimes, we find ourselves in ruts that feel impossible to escape from. This has been a struggle for me my entire life and while I've gotten much, much better, the past week has been really tough. There were lots of ups and downs in a really short period of time, which can really mess with a girl. So today, I decided that I was going to get out the ole tripod and photograph myself in my backyard. Fast forward a few hours and I'm dancing in my underwear to happy music. Sometimes, I think we need to take the time to remind ourselves of our own magic.

iii. Weddings

Two of my favorite people on this earth got married on Saturday afternoon and I am so honored to have been a part of their special day. I'm a sucker for weddings, and this one hit me hard. I mean, I grew up with these two, and to watch their relationship evolve over the last several years into what it is today has been a profound and magical experience. I can only hope that someday I'll find a person who fits with me as well as these two fit with one another. And boy, do I wish them all the love and happiness this world has to give. They deserve it.
